Help those living with the haze of trauma
We’ve all endured a difficult season due to the pandemic – some more than others.
But what about the people who were already suffering before the coronavirus hit? Refugees, people caught up in natural disaster, the marginalised and sick, those living in war zones…
These people need God’s love shown through practical kindness, God’s word to nurture their soul, and God’s peace that surpasses understanding.
You can help to Open The Bible for people experiencing trauma and suffering. Read on to get an insight into how you can make an impact, or give now.
George
from Syria
Syria is now in its 9th year of a terrible war that has left its civilian population broken and deeply traumatised. They are being further victimised by tightening sanctions imposed by other countries.
George, who heads up the Aleppo office, believes that the Bible-based Trauma Healing Programs they have been running are profoundly important.
“These seminars have made us wake up to the needs of so many people everywhere,” George said in a zoom call last month.
George says they know that God is their refuge. “They feel it. They touch it. It’s not just a verse. We believe that people will heal and the lives of entire families will be changed.”
He wanted to thank Bible Society supporters.
“You mean a lot to us,” he said. “We, we breathe through you.”
These are challenging times for all of us. But, as always, the world’s most vulnerable people have been hit hardest. The coronavirus has heaped misery on suffering, hardship on pain. Now, more than ever, people enduring the toughest circumstances need help.
You can reach out and bring relief from trauma to people who are in distress.
